Quilt Block Swap #9

I finished another block this morning.  This one is called “Castle Garden.”  I’m not sure I’m all that thrilled with it.  Maybe I should have reversed the brown floral and the solid stripe…???  Not sure?  Anyway, it has ALOT of pieces, though it wasn’t that hard to put together at all.  This is the first time I’ve made flying geese within flying geese units, but those turned out exactly right.

I also spent part of the day ripping out stitches on my Arrow Crown block.  I realized several days after making it that I’d reversed two of the squares within the block, and the design was messed up!  How I didn’t notice this before is beyond me!  Maybe I was just ga-ga over how many pieces I’d just put together?  Anyhow, now I’ve fixed it, and it’s back in my pile of finished blocks.  Here’s the mess up:

Quilt Block Swap #8

Here’s the Rolling Star block I made yesterday.  The pattern is from Quilter’s Cache.  I really like how this one turned out.

Quilt Block Swap #7

These are the newest blocks I’ve made for my Block Swap Quilt.  I like the first 3, but the last one (which is paper pieced) looks like bird feet to me, and I don’t like it at all!!!  UGH!

And speaking of paper piecing…  I’m getting better at it.  I started a new block yesterday called “Rolling Star” and I got the pattern from Quilter’s Cache.  I plan on having that one finished by this afternoon.

I also “designed” the back side of the quilt.  All of my extra blocks are going to go on the back.  However, now that I’ve drawn out what it will look like, I’ve decided that I’d like to use a row of 6″ blocks, a row of 12″ blocks and then a final row of 6″ blocks–all interspersed with the pink polka dot fabric that I’ve picked out for the backing fabric (which, by the way, I need to go buy before CraftWarehouse runs out of it).

Anyway, now I get to make 20 6″ blocks, and that excites me since I’ve been working with 12″ blocks for so long now (I’m looking forward to the change).
