New January Crochet Square
January 14, 2009
Oh, YAY! I made another January Crochet Square for the crochet-along on Craftster.org. It’s called Esther’s Square, and I LOVE it. It looks complicated, but all you have to know is single crochet and double crochet.
The other square I made turned out to be 10-inches in the center when it was supposed to be 11-inches. So, for this square, I went up 2 hook sizes to a “J.” Well… despite a larger hook size and making a conscious effort to loosen up, the center of this second square was also 10-inches! The yarn FEELS the same size to me, but maybe it’s not?
Also, it’s supposed to be 2 colors. I bought white as the second color despite getting a bad vibe about it in the store. The white just looks too “clean,” but I wasn’t sure what other color to pair with this blue (which I LOVE!). Yesterday, though, I saw, on the cover of a book, a purple and green combo that I really liked, and I think a medium frog-green will look pretty good with this blue so that’s what I’m going to do. I’ll hit Joann’s today while I have a 50% off coupon to use and get some green yarn.
Without further ado, here’s my second-ever crochet square:
